Opposite Greenwich theatre is a real treasure. Probably the
oldest and best known restaurant in Greenwich. No visit is complete without
eating here. You will join a long line of the rich and famous who had dined
before you. See their photos and autographs. The restaurant is an old coaching
house which maintains its original character. See memorabilia from days gone
by. If you can make the steep stairs ask for a table upstairs by the window
and watch the world go by!
Booking advised.
Relax and dine typical French menu and long wine list.
THYME is a 32-seater restaurant that opened in Westcombe Park (close to Westcombe
Park station) in the summer of 1997. After a successful two years
and excellent reviews in Time out and the hotel & caterer magazine, also
an entry in the Time out eating & drinking guide. The restaurant has
just been refurbished with the Mediterranean in mind, in warm terracotta to
enhance the stained glass frontage and create a relaxed and intimate
atmosphere – as well as providing the perfect backdrop to their new
art-in-residence.
THYME has always had a policy of displaying (and selling) unusual art from
up-and-coming students, and little known artists. The current collection of
abstract landscapes is from local artist Gil Mutch, a collection of glowing
sunsets and seasons, which provides a great talking point to accompany the
inventive menu.
The menu, and their restaurant philosophy, is based on the finest seasonal
ingredients found by the chef, at the market, on the day.
